When guests come over, it can be tempting to dress up and impress them with your style. However, comfort is also a top priority when spending time at home. It’s possible to strike a balance between looking stylish and feeling comfortable, and this article will provide tips on how to do just that.

One key to looking stylish while staying comfortable is choosing the right fabrics. Soft, breathable materials like cotton, linen, and bamboo can keep you cool and comfortable while still looking chic. Avoid fabrics that are too stiff or scratchy, as they can be uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

Another important factor is choosing the right outfit. Opt for loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely and feel relaxed. Layering is also a great way to add dimension to your outfit while staying comfortable. With these tips in mind, you can be sure to impress your guests with your stylish yet comfortable look.

  1. Selecting the Right Outfit
  2. Accessorizing Your Look
  3. Creating a Welcoming Home Environment
  4. Hosting with Style and Comfort

Selecting the Right Outfit

When selecting an outfit for a comfortable yet stylish look at home with guests, it’s important to strike a balance between comfort and fashion. Here are a few tips to help you select the right outfit:

Consider the Occasion

The first step in selecting the right outfit is to consider the occasion. If it’s a casual get-together with friends, you can opt for a relaxed yet stylish look. On the other hand, if it’s a formal dinner party, you’ll want to dress up a bit more.

Choose Comfortable Fabrics

Comfort is key when it comes to selecting an outfit for a night in with guests. Choose fabrics that are soft and breathable, such as cotton or linen. Avoid fabrics that are itchy or restrictive, as they can make you feel uncomfortable and distract you from enjoying your time with guests.

Accessorize with Style

Accessories can elevate any outfit and add a touch of style. Consider adding a statement necklace, a pair of earrings, or a scarf to your outfit. Just be sure not to overdo it, as too many accessories can make your outfit look cluttered.

Keep it Simple

When in doubt, keep it simple. A classic pair of jeans and a cozy sweater can be dressed up with the right accessories, or dressed down for a more casual look. Stick to neutral colors and classic styles that will never go out of fashion.

By following these tips, you can select an outfit that is both comfortable and stylish for a night in with guests.

Accessorizing Your Look

Accessories can elevate any outfit, even when it comes to loungewear. When entertaining guests at home, adding a few key accessories can make all the difference in looking stylish and put together.

For women, a pair of sheepskin slippers can be both comfortable and chic. They provide warmth and cushioning for the feet while adding a touch of luxury to any outfit. Pair them with a cozy sweater and leggings for a perfect at-home look.

Another great accessory to consider is a statement necklace or earrings. These can add a pop of color or sparkle to an otherwise simple outfit. Opt for bold, chunky pieces to make a statement or delicate, understated pieces for a more subtle touch.

Scarves are also a versatile accessory that can be worn in a variety of ways. Use them as a wrap or shawl for added warmth, or tie them around the neck for a stylish accent. Choose a scarf in a bold print or color to add interest to a neutral outfit.

Finally, don’t forget about handbags. A stylish tote or crossbody bag can complete any outfit, even when you’re just lounging at home. Look for bags with interesting textures or details to add visual interest.

By incorporating these accessories into your loungewear look, you can look stylish and put together while still being comfortable at home with guests.

Creating a Welcoming Home Environment

When having guests over, it’s important to make them feel comfortable and at ease in your home. Creating a welcoming environment can go a long way in achieving this goal. Here are some tips to help you create a warm and inviting atmosphere:

Lighting

Lighting is crucial in creating a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Soft, warm lighting can help create a relaxed ambiance in your home. Consider using dimmer switches or lamps with warm-toned bulbs. Candles are also a great way to add warmth and create a relaxing atmosphere.

Seating

Make sure you have enough seating for your guests. A comfortable sofa or armchair can make a big difference in creating a welcoming environment. If you don’t have enough seating, consider adding some floor cushions or bean bags.

Decor

Decorating your home with warm, inviting colors and textures can help create a cozy atmosphere. Soft, plush fabrics like wool, cashmere, and velvet can add warmth and comfort to your home. Consider using warm colors like browns, oranges, and yellows to create a welcoming environment.

Music

Music can also help create a relaxed atmosphere in your home. Consider playing some soft, soothing music in the background to help create a calming environment for your guests.

By following these tips, you can create a warm and inviting atmosphere in your home that will make your guests feel comfortable and at ease.

Hosting with Style and Comfort

When hosting guests at home, it’s important to strike a balance between style and comfort. You want your guests to feel relaxed and at ease, but you also want to make a good impression and create a welcoming atmosphere. Here are some tips for hosting with style and comfort.

Dress Comfortably, but Stylishly

When you’re hosting guests at home, you want to be comfortable, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. Opt for clothes that are both comfortable and stylish, such as a pair of well-fitted jeans and a cozy sweater, or a stylish jumpsuit made from soft, breathable fabric. Avoid anything too tight or restrictive, as you’ll be moving around a lot and want to feel at ease.

Create a Cozy Atmosphere

To make your guests feel at home, it’s important to create a cozy atmosphere. This can be achieved through lighting, soft furnishings, and decor. Use soft, warm lighting to create a relaxed ambiance, and add cozy cushions and throws to your seating areas. You can also add some greenery or fresh flowers to bring some life and color to your space.

Serve Comfortable, Yet Delicious Food

When it comes to food, you want to strike a balance between comfort and deliciousness. Serve dishes that are hearty and satisfying, but also flavorful and well-presented. You can opt for comfort foods such as mac and cheese or chili, but add a gourmet twist with artisanal cheeses or fresh herbs. Serve your food on stylish plates or platters to elevate the presentation.

By following these tips, you can create a stylish and comfortable atmosphere for your guests, making them feel right at home.

As the weather starts to cheer up after a winter full of rain and storms, it’s a good time do a spot of maintenance around the exterior of your home. Thoroughly going over your home’s exterior now will nip potential problems in the bud and give you peace of mind for the year ahead.

But do you really need to bother? The simple answer is yes. Neglecting your home maintenance can be costly. For starters, without a water-tight roof and working gutters, your home is at risk from rain damage and damp. And if your insurance company decide you haven’t sufficiently maintained your home, they could reject your claim for the damage caused. So, doing some post-winter home maintenance could save you from much bigger expenses later on.

Repair storm damage

There aren’t many of us who haven’t experienced at least a few days of windy weather over the winter. Storms tend to bring higher wind speeds and strong gusts that can challenge even the strongest of roofs. So, it’s a good idea to start your maintenance at the top of the house and work your way down to ground level.

First, check that the main elements of your roof are all in good order. You don’t need any specialist skills to do this. Stand back from your house, so you have a good clear view of your roof and see if anything looks out of place such as slipped tiles and missing lead flashing. Another way to spot problems with the roof is to go up into your loft. Check for signs of daylight coming through, listen for the sound of dripping water and look for watermarks on timbers.

Should you find there’s some repair work to be done, then you’ll need a local roofer to carry this out safely. But there’s no need to panic as replacing roof tiles is a quick job and typically costs between £150 and £250. Although if a scaffold is needed, the cost will be nearer £500.

If a scaffold is going up, it’s a good idea to get the rest of the roof professionally inspected at the same time. It might also be worth checking your gutters for debris and damage too, as this is the next job that should be on your spring maintenance checklist. Windy weather tends to blow twigs and leaves from trees and these have a habit of collecting in gutters along with dirt and moss. Blocked gutters can’t channel the rain away from your home effectively, so walls can become soaked through.

Clean doors and windows

The lashing of wind and rain against our windows does leave them looking pretty grubby. And once the sun starts shining on them, it can highlight just as dirty they are. Your front and back doors are likely to be just as dirty, even if it’s not as obvious.

Windows can be cleaned as a DIY job using a window cleaning product or a solution of distilled vinegar and dish soap. However, if there are windows that are hard to reach without ladders, it’s best to use a window cleaning company instead. Costs for this job aren’t high and if it’s just a few windows that need cleaning, it’s likely to set you back between £10 and £25.

As well as cleaning the windows, check the seals, hinges and other mechanisms are clean and working properly. As all of these are replaceable if they’re faulty, there’s no need to worry about needing new windows if there’s a problem. But fixing these issues is essential as windows and doors that don’t close and lock properly can void your home insurance and leaving them in poor condition makes your home attractive to burglars.

Go over your fences, patios and paths

Garden fences can also take quite a battering over winter. So, as the weather warms up, it’s a good time to go around your boundary and check them over.

Unless a panel has blown down, it’s not always obvious that there are problems. However, wood can start to rot and posts can start to come loose. If you fix these problems early on, it can save you needing to pay out for new fences. Once the temperatures have risen above 10ºC, it’s warm enough for most fence paints and preservatives to dry – meaning you can get them protected ready for next winter and looking their best before summer hits.

Just like your gutters, your paths and patios are likely to be full of tree and garden debris. So, the first job to do here is to give them a good sweep. As there’s usually a lot of moisture in the garden and not so much sunlight, it’s likely there’ll be a build-up of moss and algae on your hard surfaces too. A stiffer brush should be enough to tackle moss and lichen but algae is a bit trickier to remove. You can either use a pressure washer or a patio cleaner and brush to do this. Once your paving is clean, it’ll be easier to check for loose slabs and joints that need refilling.

Neglecting these jobs can leave surfaces slippery and slabs a potential trip hazard. So, although it can be mucky and time-consuming, you do need to make sure this is part of your post-winter maintenance.

There are a lot of worrying statistics that tie drugs and crime together. Even with known potential risks, the crime rate keeps rising for all of the wrong reasons. In order to keep drug related crime under control, you have to first understand the numbers.

1. Overdose Deaths

Overdose deaths are a good starting point to seeing the prevalence of opioid addiction. Thousands of deaths happen each year due to overdose, and a significant portion in that category are tied to opioids and related drugs.

2. Youth Arrests

Juveniles are arrested for possession of drugs. A small misdemeanor can completely derail what was a promising young life. Many adults have had drug mistakes from their teens leak over into their adult life and cause complications.

3. Violent Crime

Violent crime related to drugs continues to rise based on demand. Judges are also more likely to come down harder on drug offenders with a history of past violence. The bias is strong, and has led to harsher sentences for smaller crimes.

4. Prescription Drug Abuse

Prescription drugs are legal as long as they are used in their intended capacity. But there is a black market for prescription drugs, and the money made is very lucrative. With millions of people having access to legal drugs, the harm becomes a toss up between legal misuse and illegal misuse.

5. Property Crime

A good chunk of property crime is committed by those under the influence. The biggest is trespassing, as the drug user is not aware of their surroundings. Being high is not an excuse that will fly when getting arrested for trespassing.

6. Drug Seizures

The scariest thing about drug seizures is how often a sting operation will find it attached to other illegal activities. When law enforcement agencies scope out the drug trade, it is only a small part of a larger empire of illicit goods.

7. Cocaine

A common stereotype in movies is that cocaine is a drug for wealthy individuals. The truth is that illegal drugs are exactly that, and money has nothing to do with the quality. There are many situations where drug users are hospitalized due to their cocaine being laced.

8. Ecstasy

Ecstasy is known as a party drug that is used for its euphoric effects. Over the years, it has been found in the hands of teenagers and college campuses. Although it isn’t exclusively a drug used by youth, the numbers related to overdoses are concerning.

9. Marijuana

Although it has been legalized in many places, marijuana is still a drug that can get you arrested. Getting arrested for this drug has had severe consequences in the past. For the modern day, it all comes down to the local laws on whether or not the judge will throw the book at someone that gets arrested for marijuana.

10. Drug-related Homicides

Homicides carry multiple layers of information for law enforcement. When drugs are involved, it is usually at the top of the chart. Drug-related homicides can be area specific, and thus are more likely to lead to major complications.

The Global Impact is Strong

The most compelling part of these stats are the unique differences between legal and illegal drugs. For crime, the origin of the drug makes no difference in its danger to the social ecosystem of the world. As health professionals prioritize drug education, the public has to match that effort with a willingness to learn.

Leaving a partner is never an easy decision to make. But there are lots of reasons to do it, some much easier decisions to make than others.

One of the most difficult times to make that decision is when your partner is struggling with addiction. It’s a far more complex decision. On the one hand, your partner is in their hour of need. On the other hand, addiction can have a severe impact and consequences on those around them, particularly loved ones.

Which makes the question of “should I stay or should I go?” an incredibly tough one to answer.

Ultimately, there’s no right or wrong answer. Everybody is different. Everybody reacts in different ways. Everybody copes in different ways and every relationship hurt by addiction plays out in a different way.

However, there are tell-tale signs it’s time to leave, time to stand by your partner and other tips on the best approach to take when thinking about leaving someone due to addiction.

Why Stay With An Addict?

The reasons as to why you would want to stay with someone suffering with addiction, whether that be drug, alcohol, gambling or any other addiction, is quite clear. They are someone you care for dearly and you only want to see them get better.

However, in many cases it all comes down to fear. Firstly, if in an abusive relationship, which addiction can often lead to, then there’s the fear of the reaction. Then there’s the other fears like how you’re perceived.

For example, will people think you are a terrible person? Or will your partner do something drastic if you leave? What will happen to your partner?

Facing those fears can be incredibly difficult. But if the relationship isn’t working for you, then you also need to think about your own health, well-being, and in some cases safety.

Taking a step back from the situation, speaking to friends, family and even professionals will help you make a more rationalised decision on whether it’s a good idea to stay and support your partner, or if the situation is just too toxic and it’s time to part ways.

Why Leave an Addict?

Addiction is a cruel disease and it’s one that can completely transform a person from the one you knew and loved when you met.

Addiction is one of the major driving forces behind things like domestic violence in marriages, while it can also have huge financial implications and health impacts too. Among the main reasons why you should perhaps start considering leaving a relationship that is being influenced by addiction include:

Abuse

There is a clear correlation between addiction and abuse, and while not every addict is abusive, if your partner is being abusive towards you, then for your own safety, and perhaps even your children or other loved ones safety, it could well be time to leave.

Addiction can see loved ones behave completely out of character and whether it be verbal or physical abuse, it’s not something anyone should suffer with.

Denial

One problem you may find in a partner is that they point blank refuse to accept that they have a problem with addiction. In their eyes it may be that they have it under control and there are no problems.

Ignoring you and your request for them to get help can be frustrating. However, this is normal, and it is perhaps worth trying a number of times to open their eyes. If that doesn’t seem to be working though, and you cannot help that person, then packing your bags may be the only option.

If it gets to that point, questions over whether they can change and the impact they are having on you should be brought into question and decisions can be made based upon those outcomes.

Secrecy

Addiction will naturally bring secrets. Partners will try to hide their addiction and the misuse of substances can lead to things like theft, cheating and have real financial implications on the both of you, not to mention increasing stress levels and tension within a household.

That isn’t a healthy relationship. It needs to be an equal partnership that is open and honest, and if that’s not the case then perhaps it’s what opens the door for you.

Should I Stay or Go?

Essentially, every relationship that is suffering from addiction is different, but asking and answering those key questions and highlighting any negative impacts on your relationship will help you make a clear decision that is best for yourself, the rest of your family, and even your partner in the long run.

Speak to people, speak to a professional and get clear advice and perspectives rather than bottling it all up, and the decision will be a much easier one to make.

There is a tenuous line between taking responsibility for our mistakes and using our shortcomings to define who we are. Having worked closely with thousands of people over the last twenty years, I know that unfortunately, many of us fall into the second category.

There is a common misconception that if we hold close to our mistakes and see ourselves as inadequate, it somehow makes us better by avoiding egoism or lethargy. Sadly, many of us move far past being “less than” to ascribe to a personal narrative that includes feeling worthless and even pathetic.

The reality is that feeling bad about who we are does not in any way benefit us, nor does it speak to any underlying fact. The truth is that we all have Intrinsic Worth, a deep and unchanging value, present from birth and not dependent on who we are or what we do.

There is so much to be gained from accepting our Intrinsic Worth and knowing we are enough. Life becomes easier, sweeter and more extraordinary. If you are resistant to embracing this foundational principle, here are six reasons to do it anyway.

  1. We Become Kinder: Since many of us are more comfortable focusing on the needs of others, let’s start there. When we accept our Intrinsic Worth, we are able to see past our mistakes and errors. We learn to regard ourselves with grace, compassion and forgiveness. When we make this shift, it is easier to approach others in the same way.
  1. We Have Healthier Relationships: One of the most amazing benefits in knowing we are enough is freedom from looking for validation in other people and other things. We understand that our value is already present and when other people let us down, their words or actions have nothing to do with us. This principle, what I define as Psychological Separation, is a solution to a fundamental challenge in all relationships. Being aligned with our Intrinsic Worth changes our perspective, lessens our expectations and gives us what we need to participate in healthy, positive relationships.
  1. Less Anxiety and Depression: Research gives us indisputable evidence that higher levels of worth are directly linked to lower incidence of both anxiety and depression. But while conventional thought focuses on the concept of self-esteem, Intrinsic Worth is so much greater and the benefits likewise. Knowing we are enough decreases the negative thoughts and feelings that specifically contribute to both anxiety and depression.
  1. Improved Physical Health: Research again presents us with evidence that self-worth is positively correlated to physical health. One of the profound changes that occurs in accepting Intrinsic Worth is an alignment with what is personally supportive and respectful, such as maintaining a nutritious diet and engaging in regular exercise. Furthermore, knowing we are enough offers us an opportunity to find peace with ourselves as well as with everyone and everything outside of us, decreasing all sources of stress and favorably impacting our physical wellness.
  1. We Make Better Decisions: When we recognize we are enough; we accept the value within. What emerges is the organic desire to protect our experience and well-being. Accepting Intrinsic Worth offers us clarity around what will best support us in these endeavors. Positive decisions aligned with our greatest welfare and purpose naturally follow.
  1. It is Fundamentally Untrue: Any evidence you think you have to support a continued disconnection from your true value is flawed. Mistakes, failings and errors are part of the human experience and meant to teach us. Yet, our Intrinsic Worth never falters or dissipates. Period.

Your life can become extraordinary. It must be understood that while suffering is part of our shared experience, we are not condemned to a life of pain. There is a way to move past adversity and the heartache it creates. No limit exists to the good that is available to us. But first, we must know we are enough.

If you struggle from constipation and the bloat and pain that come along with it, you know that it can disrupt every area of your life. The persistent discomfort may leave you feeling unmotivated and uninspired to make healthy changes to your lifestyle because nothing you’ve tried has worked.

Maybe you feel distracted at work because of the pain, or maybe you avoid going out because you simply don’t feel up to it physically. The discomfort that is invisible to everyone around you is something you can’t ignore.

Don’t give up just yet! Did you know that magnesium plays a powerful role in your digestive health? It impacts both your digestive lining and muscle movement, helping relieve discomfort and restore function. It may just leave you feeling inspired and equipped to solve your constipation woes after all.

There are many forms of magnesium, all of which support the body in different ways, including your digestive tract. Consuming an adequate amount of magnesium from a variety of foods, such as leafy greens, nuts, seeds, avocado, bananas and potatoes, is ideal to ensure that your total intake meets your body’s needs.

When it comes to digestive health specifically, there are two forms of magnesium that powerfully relieve symptoms: magnesium citrate and magnesium glycinate. These forms target your gut lining and muscles specifically to support calm and healthy digestion. If you eat an array of magnesium-rich foods and still don’t experience symptom relief, supplementing with citrate and/or glycinate may help restore a calm digestive tract.

Whether you are getting your magnesium from food or find yourself supplementing to meet your digestive health needs more specifically, here are five ways this powerful mineral relieves your pain and restores healthy digestive function:

  1. It exhibits anti-inflammatory effects. Magnesium can help reduce inflammation throughout your digestive tract, reducing your risk of developing more severe digestive disorders. Decreasing inflammation in the digestive tract also allows your gut to do what it does best: digest and absorb food and nutrients.
  1. It activates enzymes and cofactors. Magnesium plays a powerful role in activating the enzymes and cofactors in our food that help us break down protein, fats, and carbohydrates and decrease gas and bloat while doing so. Without magnesium and these cofactors, we can’t absorb as much of what we eat. Consuming adequate magnesium is essential for optimal nutrient absorption.
  2. It controls muscle function. Magnesium regulates muscle function (peristalsis) in the digestive tract (and elsewhere). Magnesium is responsible specifically for muscle relaxation, which helps relieve tension, constipation, and bloat. Relief.
  1. It regulates our nervous system. This role that magnesium plays is connected to our digestive muscle function. Our nervous system is often referred to as “the second brain” of the gut, and it impacts how our digestive tract moves. Adequate magnesium can help to calm the nervous system, ultimately stimulating peristalsis (digestive tract muscle movement) and the secretion of digestive juices, which boost nutrient absorption at meal time.
  1. It helps maintain the integrity of our gut barrier. Magnesium strengthens the tissue of our digestive tract lining, which boosts nutrient absorption and decreases the risk of developing leaky gut syndrome (when harmful substances leak through the gut barrier into our bloodstream). It also may stimulate the proliferation of different probiotic strains in the gut, possibly reducing gas and bloat while boosting nutrient absorption from food.

Constipation is a literal pain to live with, but magnesium could be just the mineral you need to bring you relief and restore a balanced digestive system.

Step outside stress tornados to promote wellbeing

Anxiety, like a contagion, moves rapidly from person to person to person. Without a calming presence, it intensifies creating stress tornados that are hard to settle down. A family member demands attention, colleagues share frustrations, and a new appointment requires changing three other obligations. Even our most virtuous efforts helping others are challenged by pressures coming from various directions. How does anxiety influence your life? Can you see its movement through your family or team?

Despite attempts to promote calm, stress finds a way to creep in. Anxiety has a permanent place in our world and makes many of us shudder. However, anxiety comes from basic survival instincts and can be a positive force stimulating performance and change. Stress becomes problematic when levels are chronically high, decreasing resilience and sustainability. The good news is we can create calm keeping stress at healthy levels.

As we choose to decrease the pull of anxiety tornados, we promote life balance for ourselves and everyone around us. Integrate daily activities to promote calm and perspective. Implement activities to create inner calm such as walk your dog, play with a child, or meditate. Apply some of the following perceptual changes to really increase calm and tap into the positive forces of anxiety.

  1. Guide decisions and responses with key values, virtues, and purpose. Awareness of what is important increases our ability to respond in ways we feel good about even when anxieties are high. Anxiety can send us into automatic responses that are not always helpful. Take a deep breath and pair with a calming word to slow down your emotional reaction. Remember core values and purpose to promote thoughtful responses rather than reacting emotionally to others’ expectations or anxiety.
  1. See anxiety’s possibilities. We change the power of stress by perceiving it differently. Rather than seeing anxiety as always being a negative, look for the positives to create a force for good. What can help bring about healthy change? What can you let go of?
  1. Make the distinction between your emotions and those of others. Caring about others does not require us to take on their emotional journeys. We create calm and care more effectively when choosing not to take on other people’s emotions. This is true whether we are dealing with a confrontational family member, unhappy friend, or someone grieving a loss. Use resources, such as counselors, to get an objective perspective when you feel caught up in emotional storms making it difficult to differentiate.
  1. Choose perspective. Intentionally promote a positive outlook rather than fall into a negative norm. We are responsible for our own emotions, perceptions, and responses and can choose a way of being. Cultivate attitudes of gratitude, joy, and hope. Such ways of seeing the world do not just happen, but need to be fostered daily. How do you want others to remember you? Create reminders such as a gratitude alert to remind you of the presence you want to bring into the world.
  1. Defuse emotional triggers. When we figure out what creates higher emotional responses, we can do things to make it harder for others to push our triggers. Establish a helpful response to increase self-regulation. For example, prepare a statement you can use to calm yourself when your heart rate starts to speed up.
  1. Allow others to be responsible for their own emotions, perspectives, and wellbeing. This is probably one of the most difficult strategies for us helpers. We can care about others, but making sure they are happy is not our responsibility. When we try taking on other people’s responsibilities, we increase anxiety and decrease effectiveness for everyone involved.

As we walk in a highly anxious world, stress will frequently make its presence known. Helping others during difficult times often presents a variety of pressures pushing us in different directions. We cannot eliminate anxiety, but we can influence how much it determines our journey through efforts to see and experience pressures differently. As we do so, we create a calm that radiates into the world reducing anxiety in families and teams.

“Hey, I just wanted to make you aware…”

Ever had a coworker say this to you? Or maybe it’s someone in your family/friend system. They’re “just trying to be helpful” by pointing out something to you. Unsolicited, they share feedback about you or your performance or how you are showing up in the world. Most of the time they heard it elsewhere, and it’s all under the guise of being supportive.

Big red flag for me.

When I first stopped wearing high heels at work, I was pulled aside by three different women to ask me about my flats. One thought I was pregnant, one was worried I was unwell and dealing with a health issue, and one just wanted to make me aware that flats weren’t professional.

Sure, maybe sometimes this kind of unsolicited sharing is actually helpful. It might even be well-intentioned. Perhaps what they’re telling you is constructive and kind. And at the same time, it might shake your confidence. Cause you to take a step back and wonder if you’re really doing as well as you were just starting to believe you were. Make you question yourself. What can you do when this happens? Try these 5 tactics to manage your mindset and not let it crush your confidence.

  1. First, lean into a learning mindset. Accept this information as a piece of data, but not the entire data set. Examine it as a scientist to see if there is anything valuable or useful, and be hyper-aware of where things really don’t jive with how you understand your situation.
  1. Next, consider the source. Is this a person you have a deep, trusting relationship with? Are they someone who knows you well enough to provide contextualized input? Do they have your best interests at heart? Are they someone you would typically turn to for advice?
  1. Check for intent. Ask yourself what this person might truly be trying to accomplish beyond just the stated desire to help you. Are they nervous about their own performance and passing this along because it makes them feel better? Have they been waiting to one-up you? Do they want to be seen as more powerful than they are? Are they possibly jealous of what you’re doing and how you’re showing up? Are you hitting a nerve of theirs in some way?
  1. After that, ask for specifics. Chances are they won’t provide them, but the more specific you can get, the more equipped you will be to figure out your next steps.
  1. Lastly, filter the input. A Mayor I used to work with always said, “Feedback is a gift.” I like to change that slightly to, “Feedback is a gift, but it’s not one you have to keep.” Take what serves you, create action steps if needed, and release the rest.

Toxic helpfulness shows up in lots of different ways, often from places or people you may not expect it from. In addition to the above, ask yourself if part of the reason it’s happening is because you are disrupting something in your place of work or your friend/family system. It might just be a sign you’re doing things exactly right for yourself.

Focus on Influence not Control

There’s something about a fresh start. It holds the promise of what feels possible, perhaps even transformational. It’s a moment in your life when your wish for something more, for something better, is planted like a seed. Yet, you might wonder, can I do it?

I believe you can. I’m a psychotherapist who specializes in supporting women who want greater health and happiness. I’ve discovered that the best way to keep your

resolutions on track is to focus on influence not control. By using a thoughtful approach to your goals, you build the self-confidence and resilience you need to stay committed.

As you think about your New Year’s resolutions, how you phrase what you want is just as important as what you decide to do. A 2020 Swedish study concluded that approach-oriented goals are more effective than avoidance-oriented goals.

Approach-oriented goals express what you want to cultivate more of in your life and how that will benefit you; whereas, avoidance-oriented goals aim to eliminate behaviors or emphasize the negative outcome. For example, if weight loss is a goal you have, an approach-oriented goal might be “I will feel more energetic and stronger if I walk daily”. An avoidance-oriented goal might say “I need to stop eating sugar so that I can lose weight”.

Who you are is a continuously evolving process that lasts your entire life. This is why it’s important to stay mindful of how your needs, wants, and desires are changing over time. A New Year’s resolution can be a wonderful way to set intentions that affirm what matters most to you.

Here’s my top three recommendations for how to focus on influence rather than control.

1. Practice the art of revising expectations. This idea invites the mental flexibility you need to adjust your goals. When you’re looking to make changes or improvements in your life, it’s easy to get caught up in the moment of inspiration and set lofty intentions that bring a brighter future.

It’s normal to underestimate what the process is going to look and feel like. When you practice the art of revising expectations, you’re exhibiting resilience and stepping away from seeing setbacks as failure.

New Year’s resolutions are most successful when you’re willing to update them based upon how your process is evolving. This makes it easier to give yourself grace while staying dedicated to your wellness.

2. Stay curious. Ask yourself, whats possible? When you’re curious, you’re inviting the quality of openness. You’re not trying to dominate, predetermine, or control a situation. This allows you to accept where you are and what you’re capable of now.

When you ask yourself what’s possible, you encourage adaptability. By staying true to what is, it’s easier to see the options that are available to you. This builds self-nurturing and self-confidence without needing to be in control.

New Year’s resolutions that focus on what’s possible emphasize the influence you have over your life. You’re affirming what you feel capable of doing, avoiding the pitfalls of lack mentality, and concentrating your energy on taking action.

3. Resistance is normal. Disarm resistance by welcoming it. Then work with the tension creatively. Resistance is a natural part of change. It serves as a self-defense mechanism that is trying to protect you. Our natural inclination is to avoid dealing with it. By welcoming it, you automatically decrease its power over you.

Creative expression, like writing, drawing, and singing, is a powerful way to convey the resistance you feel. It gives you the chance to get it off your chest, decreasing the pressure you feel. When you can see your resistance, it becomes easier to work through mindfully.

By approaching your New Year’s resolutions from a place of accepting the process of change, your resistance becomes less of a roadblock. This helps you move away from all-or-nothing thinking, which is based on a desire to control, towards seeing your goals on a spectrum of evolution and growth.

Embrace your fresh start this New Year’s by focusing on the influence you have over your life. May these recommendations help you improve your health and wellness in ways that are sustainable, flexible, and compassionate.

7 Benefits Of Buying Mushroom Chocolate Bar On A Sale

Whether you’re a seasoned epicurean who appreciates the finer tastes or are just beginning your culinary journey, allow me to present to you seven compelling benefits to tantalize your taste buds by considering the purchase of a delectable Mushroom Chocolate Bar when it goes on sale in the exciting year of 2024.

1.    Cost Savings

Jumping on a sale isn’t just about satisfying an impulse or checking an item off a to-do list; it’s a strategic move that savvy shoppers understand well. The foremost benefit is the immediate cost effectiveness it brings. Mushroom Chocolate Bars stand out as premium delicacies that may not always fit every budget, especially in their ethically produced, high-concentrate form. However, during sales events, the opportunity to secure these indulgent treats at discounted prices arises, leading to considerable savings that can make a significant difference for discerning consumers like yourself. By taking advantage of such offers, the money saved can be strategically allocated towards acquiring accessories, exploring complementary products, or even elevating future chocolate experiences with higher-quality options.

2.    Quality Assurance

Some shoppers experience a smidge of skepticism regarding sales—does the discount equate to a drop in quality? Not necessarily. It’s wise to remember that while sales are often conducted for various reasons, including stock clearance, they also serve as a platform for brands to showcase their products. A Mushroom Chocolate Bar on Sale in 2024 is an opportunity to try a high-grade product, often at a price that makes this quality more accessible. This unique blend of rich chocolate infused with earthy mushroom essence creates a delectable treat that surprises the taste buds with its harmonious flavors. The discounted price makes it a tempting purchase and introduces customers to an innovative culinary experience they might not have considered before.

3.    Variety And Selection

A sale is not just an event for buyers; it’s a strategic marketing tool for sellers. It offers more than just attractive discounts; it offers an escape to a realm of culinary delights waiting to be discovered. These discounts save you money and open doors to a diverse array of flavors and types that may pique your interest. Exploring a sale presents an opportunity to delve into a plethora of options, catering to varying preferences and dietary requirements. This ensures that each purchase is a gratifying and personalized experience tailored to your tastes. With an expanded selection of flavors, you can invest your time and resources in unearthing new favorites and broadening your culinary horizons.

4.    Stocking Up

No one has ever regretted having ‘too much’ of a product they love. Sales present excellent opportunities for savvy shoppers to stock up on their favorite Mushroom Chocolate Bar. By taking advantage of these sales, you save yourself from making multiple trips to the store and ensure you have a plentiful stash of this delightful treat before it runs out. Additionally, purchasing more in one go allows you to maximize your savings. It gives you the peace of mind of having a delicious and enlightening experience waiting for you whenever you desire. Treat yourself to a sumptuous and satisfying indulgence with each bite of the Mushroom Chocolate Bar, knowing you have a reserve to enjoy at your leisure.

5.    Gifting Opportunities

The mushroom chocolate bar, especially when purchased on sale, isn’t just a treat for the self; it’s an indulgence that can be shared with others. Its affordability at a discounted price makes it a practical yet thoughtful gift choice for friends, colleagues, and loved ones. By gifting these bars, you’re sharing a delicious treat and introducing them to the intriguing world of mushroom-infused products. A sale presents the perfect opportunity for generous and meaningful gestures, allowing recipients to savor the unique experience and embark on an unexpected adventure. It creates a particular moment in gift-giving that will be remembered fondly.

6.    Trying New Flavors

It’s tempting to stick to the flavors we know, but a vast array of tastes is waiting to be discovered. With sales, there’s a gateway to a realm of experimental delight, inviting you to explore flavors that may push your culinary boundaries. Thanks to the reduced prices, you can quickly treat yourself to that daring mix of peanut butter and mushroom chocolate or even indulge in a fusion of sea salt and caramel with a hint of psilocybin. Opportunities like these are rare, so seize the moment to relish these potentially unexpected yet wonderfully satisfying blends.

7.    Long-term Benefits

Besides the immediate satisfaction of taste, adventure, and saving money, purchasing a Mushroom Chocolate Bar on sale in 2024 can also bring about less tangible yet equally valuable long-term advantages. By taking advantage of discounts to stock up on your favorite varieties, you’re ensuring a consistent supply of your preferred treat and positioning yourself to enjoy the evolving world of Mushroom Chocolate Bars as they become more popular. This forward-thinking approach and wise spending can establish a lasting bond with a product that adds unexpected and delightful moments to your life, creating a deeper connection with each indulgence.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the benefits of purchasing a Mushroom Chocolate Bar on sale in 2024 extend far beyond the surface. By seizing this opportunity, you are delving into a burgeoning industry ripe with innovation and promising growth. This decision offers you immediate savings and opens doors to a world of top-notch quality, diverse flavors, and a commitment to long-term environmental sustainability.
